Farmers Market Coop of East Liberty Update
Posted 7/7/2011 10:01pm by David Lagnese.
Update for Saturday July 9th
Last Saturday was a busy day at the market with everyone procuring their holiday goodies. I hope this Saturday will be busy as well as we have a number of new locally grown items.
I spoke with the famers and new items I am hearing about include Roma Beans, Yellow Beans, Green Beans, Cauliflower, and some new Kale varieties (Red Russian and Blue Scotch). In the fruit department- Berries, Lodi Appples (sour green cooking apples) and Peaches. Yes you heard it right, local Peaches!
I did hear that there is a small chance there will be local corn, but no promises there. I am hearing next week for sure on the corn. Isn't summer great?
I thought Rhubarb was done, but Greenawalts had some beautiful stuff last week and said they would have more this week.
Locally grown items that will be available this Saturday
The Kew Park Coffee Bar will have iced coffee, fresh squeezed lemonade and limeade.
PA Made Cheese booth will have a new cheese from Clover Creek Cheese Cellar.

Bike Rack
Please note that we now have one of those cool circular bike racks installed in front of the building. So bike on in! Special thanks to Christine Berger from the Mayor's office and Emily Keebler from Patrick Dowd's office who made this happen!
